X-MenMCU reboot cast rumors are dropping at a seemingly increasing rate, and the latest one claims Marvel Studios may have found an actor it likes to play Cyclops.

When theX-Menfilm rights returned to Marvel Studios through Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox, fans were excited by the prospect of seeing fan-favorite characters like Wolverine and Cyclops join Captain America and Thor in the MCU. Most assumed Marvel Studios would reboot theX-Men franchise with new actors in the mutant roles. However, Marvel Studios has used the Multiverse Saga to bring back actors from Fox’s X-Men movies instead, most notably Hugh Jackman as Wolverine inDeadpool and Wolverine. Still, Kevin Feige teased anew age of X-Men afterAvengers: Secret Wars, leading most to assume new versions of the iconic mutants will be introduced.

ScooperMyTimeToShineHellonow claimsMarvel Studios is considering Jack Champion for the role of Cyclops in theX-MenMCU reboot.Champion is perhaps best known for his role inAvatar: The Way of Wateras Miles “Spider” Socorro, the son of Stephen Lang’s Colonel Miles Quaritch and inseparable friend of Jake and Neytiri’s family. He also played what turned out to be a key role inScream 6. It should be noted that thisX-Menrumor has not been confirmed or denied by official sources, so fans should remain skeptical.

This Cyclops casting rumor follows claims thatStranger Thingsstar Sadie Sinkie is being eyed for the role of Jean Grey. As such, fans have noticed that (assuming these rumors are true), Marvel Studios intends to introduce a young version of the X-Men. Sink and Champion are both in their early 20s (22 and 20, respectively) while Famke Janssen was 36 and James Marsden was 27 when they debuted as Jean Grey and Cyclops, respectively, in the 2000X-Menmovie. This decision to potentially introduce young versions of the X-Men has divided some fans.

On Twitter, there was a solid mix of those who approved of Champion playing Cyclops and those were would prefer someone else. The possibility of seeing teenageX-Menin the MCU yielded passionate responses. Some fans are adamantly against the idea, wanting an adult version of the team, while others said fans should trust that Feige’s casting decisions would be appropriate.

Assuming this rumor has any validity, it’s far from guaranteed that Champion is Marvel Studios' definitivechoice to play Cyclops in the X-Men MCU reboot. MyTimeToShineHello claims Marvel Studios is only “considering” Champion for the role, which could mean they only floated his name among many others. Marvel Studios hasn’t announced a new X-Men movie yet, so unless the new versions of the mutants appear inAvengers: Doomsdayand/orAvengers: Secret Wars, the studio isn’t likely to settle on actors for these roles any time soon. There’s plenty of time to cast the new X-Men. Besides, for the time being, Marvel Studios is seemingly focused on giving the Fox-era X-Men a fitting farewell.
